If you are already using Twitter as a social networking tool you can also take advantage of a new program called Follow Friday On Twitter. Follow Friday is a program that allows you to promote friends and followers to other Twitter users on Friday of each week.

- Promoting Usernames: You can promote users that you feel have significant information for others by placing the @ symbols in front of each user name that you would like to promote. Be sure to include a space after each user name and then place #FollowFriday in front of or at the conclusion of a list of user names. You will use the What are you doing? box to perform this action and then simply click “update” when you are done. Your followers, as well as anyone that is keeping track of the “Everyone” page will be able to view and choose any username that you are promoting for that Friday. They can also use FollowFriday to view your usernames when you use the “#” symbol in front of the information you post. Keep in mind that you should not use the # sign in front of every username as this is considered by other Twitter users to be spam. Instead make sure you use it at the beginning or the end of your username list.
- Read Follow Friday Recommendations: In addition to promoting users to other members of the Twitter community, read Follow Friday recommendations that are promoted by your followers to locate new people to connect with. This is a great way to build your business if you have one, or make new friends and acquaintances. Before following username recommendations check out their bios and tweets especially if you are not familiar with the people that are recommending them. This way you ensure that you follow users that offer high quality information.
- Use Categories: Promote your Follow Friday usernames by category. This will make them easier to locate and you can explain to your followers what is significant about their expertise.
